Connection
Families are part of our nest

At Mojo, we believe children thrive when families are part of our nest and when there is a genuine connection between home and their early learning environment. Families know their children better than anyone, and the things you share with us help our educators understand the whole child — their interests, culture, relationships, routines, celebrations, challenges and everything happening in their world. We encourage families to share the little things as well as the big things. A difficult morning, a new favourite song, something your child can't stop talking about, a change at home, a new interest or simply something that made them smile can all help us better understand and support your child throughout their day.
Your Voice Matters Here
Being involved at Mojo doesn't have to mean finding hours of spare time or attending formal meetings. Family participation can look different for everybody. You might:
- share your child's interests, ideas or experiences from home;
- contribute ideas or feedback to our program and environments;
- share aspects of your family's culture, language, traditions or skills with us;
- join us for celebrations, special events, excursions or community experiences;
- read a favourite story or participate in an experience with the children;
- contribute natural, recycled or meaningful resources to a project;
- provide feedback about our service, philosophy, policies or Quality Improvement Plan;
- or simply stop for a yarn with an educator at drop-off or pick-up.
There is no expectation that every family participates in the same way. We know families are busy, and involvement should feel meaningful rather than like another obligation.
We see our relationship with families as a partnership built on trust, respect, communication and a shared commitment to your child.
We want families to feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, celebrating achievements and telling us when something isn't quite working. Likewise, we will communicate openly with you about your child's experiences, development, relationships and wellbeing.
When children see the important adults in their lives communicating, trusting one another and working together, it helps create the sense of safety, consistency and belonging they need to thrive.
Families and siblings are always an important part of our Mojo community and are welcome to join us for appropriate service events, celebrations and experiences. (Of course, when siblings or other children visit Mojo with their family, they remain under the supervision and responsibility of their accompanying parent or caregiver.) You don't just enrol your child at Mojo — your family becomes part of our nest. 🌿
